Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Jakki J — 28 Jan 2010
Rosalind Russell gave a stellar performance as Auntie Mame!! I love her outlook on life, as far as enjoying it to the fullest, but I'm not so enamored with her morals. When her nephew comes to stay with her you can clearly see that she is not fit to raise a child, having been a free spirit her entire life, but the fact that she truly cares for him so much is endearing.
You get the sense that deep down she is a good person with a big heart and she's the kind of character you really want to root for. This is the quality of acting I adore, as it's so rare these days.
