Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Benjamin W — 08 Aug 2012
From the first time I saw this film, I was in love with it. I still remember thinking "I wish I had an Auntie Mame" after I first saw it. I still wish that, but I'd settle for being her friend.
Roz Russell is absolutely perfect as Mame. Forrest Tucker's all-to-brief appearance is delightful. And Peggy Cass as Agnes Gooch is hysterical. This is one of my small handful of Must-See-Every-Holiday-Season films which include "It's a Wonderful Life", "Miracle on 34th St.", and Alistair Sim's "Scrooge".
