Review of August: Osage County (2013) by David S — 26 Apr 2014
The acting in the movie was awesome. However, the story line left a bit to be desired. Me and my wife both felt like we had just lost 2 hours that we would never get back. The ending was tragic and terrible, while that may be appealing for some, a movie is an escape for the common man away from reality and to see an all too real family tearing apart is not only terrible but depressing.
If I wanted to be depressed I could have stared at the ceiling and thought about how my ex-wife is a greedy bloodsucker and wallowed in self pity for 2 hours instead. Movies are about escape and I only felt trapped in someone else's nightmare and was considering following Beverly Weston's example.
