Review of August: Osage County (2013) by Michael M — 11 Feb 2015
An award winning play comes to the screen and falls a little flat. It's a hot August in Oklahoma and the Weston family comes together after a family tragedy. There is betrayal, regret, dark secrets and buckets of anger.
But somehow it doesn't come together as a film. It feels too over acted and contrived to truly convince with Roberts and Streep chewing up the scenes and not letting us breathe. The words are fine but the direction and acting don't do them justice.
