Review of Audition (2000) by Jimmy L — 17 Jan 2010
Director Miike says in his opening "This is not your average horror film", and he should know. Watch this as you would a drama or thriller. This is an excellent character study. All the characters are true and likable. For me, this was a love story gone horribly wrong.
Shigahari has put his life on hold as he has cared for his son after his wife's passing. It's his son who tells him he should remarry. So, a friend has an idea... A good one if this were a romantic comedy. But, it's not.
