Review of Audition (2000) by James S — 23 Jun 2010

Crazy, crazy movie. The first half plays off as a romantic drama with even a few touches of lighthearted humor. However, after about an hour, things get ugly. The film turns into a psychological, seat clenching, mind fuck.

I feel like I would have enjoyed this a great deal more if the last 30 minutes were a little less gut wrenching, but thats also sort of the point. The ending feels rushed, but couldnt have come to any other conclusion.

I'd definatly like to see this again, as it will probably get better over time. However, its not an extremly enjoyable experiance.
