Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Greg G — 24 Feb 2009
Sad story about a boy that finds out a Jewish boy is hiding from the Nazis. All the boys picking on the new kid gives the viewer empathy for him. While Jean is hiding his religion clashes with Catholic school he is hiding in and starts trying to do christian things like the other children.
A dark dismal color palette reflects the war waging on in the rest of Europe. The story hits a hard note at the end when you learn the whole story was a true story.
