Review of Attack the Block (2011) by Mark D — 24 Jun 2012
Quite unequivocally, I love this film. I was denied the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen, but the DVD version still drew me in hook, line and glowing teeth. Cornish delivered a sci-fi without the pretentiousness that plagues many big budget films over the last 30 years; it does not assume the viewers are imbeciles.
At its heart Attack the Block is a social commentary, taking aim at people's knee-jerk reactions and preconceived notions, not necessarily turning them on their heads, but offering a chance to see them for what they are.
