Review of Attack the Block (2011) by Kevin O — 29 Aug 2013

Absolutely loved this film. Completely anti-Hollywood and they dont care. Aliens land in the hoods of London and instead of a nice boy with peanut butter candies to help them home, they meet a gang of hoodlums who start a mini war to protect their neighborhood.

Fast paced action, graphic violence, and the British humour that made Shaun of the Dead and Hotfuzz so enjoyable. Nick Frost is probably the only recognizable face in this film but if you get the chance do not miss this fresh, energetic, and hilarious take on the Alien Invasion genre. Also should be commended for how little CGI was used although it looks otherwise. Good old fashioned film making at it's best.
