Review of Atonement (2007) by Joey K — 05 May 2011
Atonement is a fantastic piece of filmmaking. It examines how a simple misinterpretation can result in an extreme ripple effect that touches (or damages) multiple lives. Director Joe Wright intelligently plays with POV throughout, creating interesting imagery and colorful visuals.
The award-winning soundtrack highlights the play-like nature of the film, and the typewriter keys are given a unique musical quality. Atonement tells the story of lovers ripped apart by circumstances beyond their control, and tells it beautifully.
