Review of Atonement (2007) by Denis K — 26 Feb 2012
One of the greatest things I appreciate about the older setting, historical type of movies is the time-line of life that is fabricated, portrayed through a two hour display on a screen. But ultimately something that comes with greatness also comes with an ultimate depressing...there are not too many of these type of movies. It's my honor, duty and privilege to claim this movie, The Atonement as one of those movies. This movie makes you ultimately feel with your heart instead of just reasoning with your mind. It digs deep into that place where it relates, where it hurts the most. Your breathing begins to shorten with wails as if your suffocating. Your eyes begin to water and you tell yourself no and they don't...you've stopped yourself... then you give it 5-10 minutes more...that's when you explode with emotion. Whatever that emotion may be. This is one of those movies. When these type of movies tend to take you by the throat and strangle those feelings out...there is no need to explain those reaction, just a moment to embrace it.
FYI- no I did not cry for those of you wondering...just got a little hard to breathe...that's all. Lol.
