Review of Atonement (2007) by Chloroform C — 12 Aug 2012
Beautiful visions, but not much else. The creator obviously wanted this to be a very important film, but when it comes right down to it, it seems he didn't have a heck of a lot to say. It's laughable that this film has been nominated for Best Picture.
Best Cinematography? Perhaps. Best Picture? Hell no. This film reminds of how easily American film-watchers can be fooled. Present the viewer with enough visual cues associated with "epic" film-making and they'll walk out of the theater telling themself what they saw was a masterpiece, whether they got anything from it or not.
