Review of Atomic Blonde (2017) by Jacob S — 19 Oct 2017
The writers no doubt feel real clever with this but I simply feel the story was too messy to glue everything together. Usual style over substance that seems to be happening lately, making the movie look "cool" is what is important.
Fight scenes were well shot even if absurd, was impressed with the lack of edits, so they looked good. Theron and McAvoy entertained even if they didn't really have any personalities, enough to keep this film above water.
Reminds me a lot of Free Fire from earlier this year in its strengths and weaknesses from messy plot, stylish setting and the sprinkling of humor. Atomic Blonde is alright but Jason Bourne or John Wick she is not.
