Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Jamie B — 27 Jul 2008
Came out in 2001 as Disney 2D was really deteriorating. The story is ok. There are a couple of nice twists to give the movie some energy and friction. None of the voice work truly stands out. Every time Milo opened his mouth, I saw Marty McFly talking.
It is incredible how much Jim Varney (Cookie) and Larry the Cable Guy (Mater from Cars) sound alike. I had to look it up on imdb just make sure that it wasn't the same person. Of course, the kooky life force story line (Kida becomes a part of the energy that protects Atlantis) is, well, less than stellar.
Like in The Black Cauldron, there's no music so if you don't like musicals that's a plus.
