Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Johan F — 01 Jan 2011
This film is very underated! And 2 on my list of favorite animated films.
Yeah I know it follows the same story formula as Avatar, Star gate and Dances With Wolves. Whate a minute I am starting to see a see connection =O.
If Dances With Wolves came out in 1990 and Star Gate directed my Ronald.
Emmerich came out in 1994 that means that Star Gate Mimicked Dances With Wolves. And Atlantis that came out in 2001 that Mimicked Star Gate. I mean just look at the main character of Star Gate and tell me that Milo I'sen't bassed of him. He hase blond hair, geekie Glasses, Studies a dead language that nobody bother to listen. So an old woman picks him up who belives him and takes him to a base where they are trying to open a star gate but they need his help to Translate the language in the gate. They get in and they find people. The people treat the guest like gods. The main character falls in love with one of the local girls. But James Cameron I guess had this idea before Star Gate. I don't know was he influensed by Dances With Wolves or just other wise. But Cameron wanted to make Avatar after Titanic 1997. But the tecnolagy wasent there yet to make Camerons vision possibble. So he wated 10. In 2005 they tried to use some tecnolagy to see is the film possible. It was, they did this one scene where Jake meets Neytiri for the first time. They hired actors who they warent planed to cast in the official film. Its actualy fun to see the how the na`vi looked back then and the over all acting. You can see the clip and more on the Avatar special edition Blu Ray or dvd. Theese film are diffrent in away but still have the same kind of formula going on.
Sorry for the typoes.
