Review of Astro Boy (2009) by John D — 07 May 2010
To Be Honest I Had ZERO Expectation for this movie. I know the Astro Boy series extremely well having re watched the 80's and 2000 series just recently. I can say it has very little to do with the anime except some of the characters.
But I still really enjoyed this movie. It's a fun romp and a good take on the Astro Boy origin story. I kinda makes me sad the company who made this movie went out of business I really would have liked to see what they would have come up with for a sequel.
The plot runs like this Toby a boy genius and his dad Dr. Tenma go to a testing of a new weapon's product and a tragedy occurs. And Astro Boy is born from Toby. He is not wanted to and leaves Metro City to join the lower earth they float above.
As much as I wanted to hate this movie it was fun and had some really good characters. It's far from great but If you want to show your kids a good light hearted fun kids movie this will not disappoint.
