The story takes place in the futuristic world where Toby voiced by Freddie Highmore is the best student and the clever son of Dr.Tenma voiced by Nicolas Cage. When Toby dies in an explosion from a red core powered robot, his dad creates an exact robot replica using Toby's DNA and a blue core that will grant him such abilities.

When he finds out that President Stone voiced by Donald Sutherland is after the blue core due to its amazing powers, Stone and his army chase Toby out of Metro City and into an underworld where robots are dumped and trashed.

He also gets to learn human feelings and emotions from a small group of human beings especially from a girl named Cora voiced by Kristen Bell. As Toby, now known as Astro Boy is taken back to Metro City in order for the core to be handed back, his dad makes another plan however and places the core back into his son, letting him save the day as President Stone recruits his robot with the red core.

I'm not going to trust anyone and believe that Astro Boy is a terrible kids' film when it's not. This movie is a good movie. It tackles the cliches you would see in a typical children's film very well and creates new storylines with it instead of making the characters cardboard cut outs.

Astro Boy gets a solid 8/10.
