Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Hyakki — 11 Mar 2017
Poor movie, I played the first few assassins creed games and they had a much deeper story and revolved around stealth, blending in ..etc, the animus made no sense in the movie, in the game you are connected to it laying down, you "become" the character, this movie is like he is both playing out the actions of the ancestor but still fully aware, much of the movie felt like slow motion, I found it hard to stay awake, little to no dialog in much of the scenes, the fighting scenes were poorly done camera cuts everywhere, ropes, pulleys & other inhuman reflexes, nothing stealth just random killing, another poor direction is the PG-13 rating, the game is rated M, the movie PG-13 why? no blood, no violence, how can you decide to make an Assassin movie with no violence - also now kids who watch this movie that's rated PG-13 will want to play a M game - smart move.
rating should be consistent with the game at-least. on a plus side, I thought the backgrounds and much of the effects were well done, but it's not enough to save this movie, most of the main actors were good with acting which was probably hard to do with a poorly written script and no support character.
