Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Michael S — 13 Jan 2017
There's bad, there's disappointing, and then there's disappointingly bad. Like Doom before it, this is a movie that can be best described as watching someone play a video game. Now there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but one gets enjoyment out of "watch me play" videos when you 1) care about the player and 2) care about the game.
Michael Fassbender's dual characters in "Assassin's Creed" has taken the fun out of this franchise and replaced it with a hollow avatar devoid of any character or worth. No one intentionally sets out to make a bad movie; with this, I don't know if they even bothered with trying to make a movie in the first place.
