Review of As Good as It Gets (1997) by Thomas V — 16 Jul 2012
The tale of a successful writer ridden with OCDs and a lack of empathy, who learns to get along with other people and get rid of his misplaced stress through friendship and love. Even though the plot seems anchored in a sitcom ambiance, James L.
Brooks and the incredible Jack Nicholson, manage to get the audience interested in Melvin's story and his struggle with his psychological impairment. The supporting cast didn't give such a terrific performance in my opinion, however they succeed in leading the movie where it was headed.
A sort of naive story telling about human relationships that doesn't get boring thanks to a solid lead and a strong direction.
