Review of As Good as It Gets (1997) by James A — 30 Nov 2012
This film sits atop a great list of movies that I'd give a full fledged seal of approval to. With the performance of a lifetime, given by Jack Nicholson, as the most cynical and bizarre human being ever written, all other romantic comedies seem to simply pale in comparison to this film.
Greg Kinnear's acting as a homosexual artist who simply wants to keep something from collapsing is simply amazing. And the supporting role of Helen Hunt as a single mother with a very sick child is rather astoundingly human, which gives this film the common ground of realism and comedy, which can only be done sarcastically.
The plot of this film is easy to follow, but completely uncommon with strange turns that are even stranger when you look at the cast of characters meant to collide in this story ark. Overall, the combination of all the elements made into this movie work perfectly to make this one of the best comedies ever put into a motion picture.
I'd recommend this movie as a purchase to just about anyone, saying that this is a cynical and heart warming look into the nature of broken human beings, which anyone can relate to.
