Review of As Above, So Below (2014) by Gabriel R — 24 Sep 2014
More below than above, the movie follows the search for the fabled philosophers stone in the catacombs of Paris. The movie has all the checkmarks of a good thriller, creepy setting, makes you jump, demons, chilling scenes, and suspense.
The first person camera made you feel as if you were in the tunnels with the explorers. This in combination with dynamic acting, made the movie immersive. Plus it had the added bonus of weaving in some historical references and intelligence.
My criticism would be that the plot is absurdly convoluted and leaves you lost by the end. If you're going to see a thriller, this is a good pick.
