Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Stuart J. P — 15 Feb 2009
They don't make 'em like they use to... And do you know why they say that? The old films concentrate on one thing only. The story... There are no special effects, no car chases. no explosions. no grand set pieces.
it's simplicity is the key. For the most part it is set is one house. Yet it's the story... Played with fantastic kinetic energy by Cary Grant. and a wonderful array of supporting madcap characters.
Absolutely brilliant screwball comedy. Timeless classic.
