Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Gordon D — 15 Apr 2009
What a hoot! The film starts off well - the old ladies are a delight, their sweet belief in their own innocence so plausibly implausible, but later on things get just plain corny. Brother Johnathan and his accomplice Einstein, in particular, are no better than a caricature and the other supporting actors aren't much better.
Overall, though, Arsenic still deserves three stars for its entertainment value.
