Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Graham J — 09 Nov 2011
Dark, hilarious, well-written, just a few ways to describe Frank Capra's 1944 comedy/thriller that has Cary Grant ripping up the scenery giving one of his craziest performances - it helps that the writing is sharp.
If I have one qualm with 'Arsenic and Old Lace' it's the length, it could've been edited in post-production. Still, this Capra movie has an unbalanced feel to it and a macabre tone both creating a truly unique and twisted comedy, which is still as funny as I'm sure it was when it came out.
It's timeless entertainment at the movies when it comes to Capra and Grant at their peaks.
