Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Ryan H — 20 Dec 2011
Arsenic and Old Lace has aged very well. It plays out just like live theatre. The plot was quick and witty and the characters were brilliantly acted. The humor ranges from very dark subject matter to some very light-hearted fun.
It really is very different from modern comedies, and that makes it a refreshing departure from what we've all grown to expect. It's a fun look back into the time when live theatre and the movie theatre were still quite similar.
