Review of Arrival (2016) by Gordon H — 05 Mar 2017
Adams is Magnificent in this Mind-Bender!
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team - lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) - is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers - and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Since this incredible film premiered at the 2016 Toronto Film Festival, it has been widely praised as one of the best science fiction movies in decades. It presents many clues without revealing its hidden truth until the film's shocking conclusion. The success of the movie's masterful storytelling is owed to director Denis Villeneuve and author Ted Chiang, whose sci-fi novella "Story of Your Life," served as the film's source material. Adams is magnificent in the role of Banks as well. If you are a fan of movies that make you think, you will love 'Arrival!'.
