Review of Arrival (2016) by Jacob F — 07 Aug 2017
Arrival is fantastic, thought provoking Sci-Fi about time, and the human condition, with a fantastic performance by Amy Adams, and sensitive, accomplished direction by Denis Villanueuve. My complaints with this wonderful, smart film lie with the slow first hour, that's still good, and interesting, but hurts a film that demands a repeat viewing.
My second complaint comes from Jeremy Renner's character feeling more like a plot device, than an actual person. However, Despite those flaws, Arrival is still a truly great film, with a fantastic, emotional punch to the gut at the end.
See it.
