I just watched ARRIVAL on Amazon Prime. I like Sci-Fi, the harder, the better. First Contact productions can be tricky. I didn't quite buy this one. I don't care much for time travel stories. This one got into some territory that was a bit in the vein of Interstellar.
Interesting that a lot of folks did not like Interstellar which was actually based on real scientific theory. Arrival is more in line with New Age thought. It's interesting experiencing one's future death.
The acting was very convincing but I did not care for the constant scenic darkness and one of my pet peeves, continual whispered dialogue. They went a bit over the top creating a foreboding, depressive mood.
The overall production seemed low budget, perhaps the need for dark, blurry scenes and much of the dramatic action in a tent. The arc of the climax seemed a lot like Interstellar, seeing the future vs.
time dilation, the future phone conversation vs. the pocket watch and quantum entanglement, both saving the day. As all good stories the guy got the girl in the end.
