Review of Arrival (2016) by Letmeinplease — 03 Mar 2017
Complete waste of time. The movie has a certain style, the OST is all right and it was kind of intriguing in the beginning but the storyline, however, is utterly ridiculous. First of all, it heavily reminded me of 1998 Godzilla or those other action flicks from the 90s with reckless Russians and Chinese, where ultimately one American superhuman saves the day.
So cheesy. The whole movie was built upon a single idea that the language we speak defines our way of thinking in a certain way, and that's basically it. All the movie does is just illustrate that idea.
Okay there are also some attempts of drama and I don't know who could possibly think it would be a good idea to use the premise of global threat in order to explore the emotions of one tiny human being.
Very clumsy movie. Even Amy Adams couldn't save it.
