Visually stunning. Science fiction film noir world destruction! Camera and lens work is worth an oscar. It's a beauty.

The movie, not so much.

From the beginning we hear Amy Adams scolding.

Channel goes unnamed but when she deals with the.

Government rep (Forrest) she hints that the terrorists she translated into English weren't so bad. In real life ms Amy has been kind enough to loudly share her belief that given her mucho experience playing dress up and pretend, makes her one more of the underfeed chain smoking royalty who wants us to only vote the Hollywood way. Much more of that and many of us will just take a year off from new movies.

A's said here, the movie moves slowly. It's sci-fi. It works mostly.

The end is well hidden until the last little bit. The ending pulls it together pretty well. This movie will do well in reruns, and on rainy days.

However (spoiler) I could not get past one certain scene. Amy and Jeremy Renner (a mathematician) both push the rules, and go up alone to try to better understand the aliens plans, are they bad visitors or are they good green guys? Someone plants a bomb with. There they are with a bomb, about to die with the aliens, unaware of the bomb, in the space vehicle. Green guys know; they blow the earthlings down the hall, close a protective door, save Amy and Renner lives and selflessly absorb the blast in the craft!

You'd think they'd be mad, how it got there, why it got there, who got it there, why kill the scientists, who ordered it, etc.

Nope! No ones upset. It's completely normal for us humans to pull that crap. Forest does acknowledge 'it was probably the soldiers...'.

This scene really killed the film for me.
