Review of Arrival (2016) by Ken C — 28 Feb 2017
What starts out with a very slow-burn understated and down-to-earth sci-fi exploring one of the oldest genre tropes of the arrival of an alien species gradually unfolds - like smoke coalescing - into something genuinely original, touching, perhaps even slightly enlightening.
If we could only learn the language of the "others" (yes, I mean anyone we feel is different) then we would truly understand them and they would cease to hold any fear for us.
Simple, brilliant - simply brilliant.
