Review of Around the World in 80 Days (2004) by Tim P — 08 Jan 2009
Typical Jackie Chan movie - full of slapstick kung-fu which is nevertheless hugely impressive - just mixed with Steve Coogan's deadpan humour style, and transported into a Jules Verne classic, and into English.
All of which screams "Not to be believed or taken seriously or tried at home" - which is what makes it enjoyable. Jackie Chan's English skills (or lack thereof) continues to annoy however.
The litany of cameos is a delight - from Arnie to Samo Hung to Rob Schneider to the Wilson bros to Kathy Bates - although my favourite was Sir Richard Branson as a ballooning entrepreneur ...
