Review of Around the World in 80 Days (2004) by Gavin P — 19 Aug 2013
Perfect "plane movie"! I haven't seen either the '50s or '80s versions, so I had nothing to compare it to. You have to bear in mind that this is a Disney kids movie, so by that measure it succeeds.
It's also genuinely in parts, with Coogan's quips a brilliant companion to Chan's martial arts stunts. Still, it's very corny in parts and is probably too long for a kids movie, but it does have some great moments.
it also has a heap of guest spots - Cleese, Richard Branson, Luke & Owen Wilson, but the craziest is Schwarzenegger as a Turkish king! It's pretty funny watching Arnie, Jackie & Steve in a spa together and thinking "that's just great casting"!
