Review of Armored (2009) by Danny C — 14 Sep 2010
Dumb premise for a movie. It's really as simple as that. Armored never really even had a chance to succeed. It wasn't painful to watch but it sure wasn't enjoyable. Mike (Matt Dillon) and the rest of his armored truck security co-workers concoct a horrendous plan to steal $42 million bucks from two trucks they are transporting. First of all, I want to guess that if two teams are traveling from point A to point B with $42 million dollars then said trucks would have some sort of tracking device on them. So you're telling me these guys can stop off for coffee and donuts and their bosses will never know? Or take a small detour to a steel mill and unload the money without anyone being the wiser? Get the hell out.
The whole movie was just a mess and it just plain wasn't a good movie. Cheap tricks and oddly enough I was able to predict the next scene and the ending. The fact the entire movie took place in a warehouse was bad enough but then we have Larry Fishburne on top of the truck hammering out the hinges in the doors trying to gain access to the $21 mill and Ty (main character good guy who doesn't go along with said plan of murdering and robbing). The sound of Fishburne hammering the hinges is what I'll remember most about this movie. I lower my head and give a smirk at the stupidity of the movie. Not really bad acting, just a bad film.
