Review of Arlington Road (1999) by Gabriel Z — 06 Nov 2007
Adding a surprising twist to the end of a film is now an everyday occurence infact it is nice when the ending is expected such is the obsession with adding the 'twist' to a film. However, back in 1999 there remained room for the unexpected and Arlington Road certainly provided that indgredient.
Tim Robbins (Shawshank Redemption) is again brilliant albeit in a completely different role to the above. Bridges (not one of my personal faviourites) is actually pretty good as the paranoid Michael Faraday.
This is not action by the second by any means but, the last 45 mins are both thought provoking and edge of the seat exciting. The ending is brilliantly crafted and the twist is matched only by The Usual Suspects in terms of surprise factor.
A must see!
