Review of Argo (2012) by Rodrigo S — 04 Dec 2013
Many people were shocked at Argo winning Best Picture among several other powerhouse films. But I can assure you that, even if there were some other fantastic nominees, Argo is very deserving of its award.
Ben Affleck proves he can do it all here with some incredible direction and bringing a fantastic acting performance to the table as well. Every shot is interesting and believable and the end-credits prove that Ben put a lot of work into the direction of this film.
Argo also boasts an all-star supporting cast including John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, and Alan Arkin. All of them deserve nominees for their performances as they all bring something unique to the energy of the film.
Great acting, great directing, and an unbelievable plot make this film a true winner. I haven't seen edge-of-your-seat tension like this in a long, long time. The film is done so masterfully that I was breathless at its most nail-biting moments and I was belly laughing at all of the subtle moments of comic relief.
Argo is an overall perfect experience at the movies and it was instantly added to my list of favorite thrillers of all time. If this movie doesn't go down as a classic, then I'll be damned.
