Review of Argo (2012) by Ulla D — 22 Feb 2014
Loved it! It's the TRUE STORY of Americans that were kidnapped I believe in Saudi Arabia in the 1980's. They were rescued, as we all know now, by a spy who had a very dangerous mission to save them under the disguise of a film crew, seeking locations for a new movie called "Argo".
Real footage is shown from the broadcasts, which makes it all the more interesting. I thought I would have issues with understanding it and violence. Neither was an issue for me, as the movie was very straightforward and there was no gore.
However, I agree with the R rating as there are very intense scenes of torchure (sp!), and strong language. The characters are in constant danger which is why I wouldn't recommend this movie for young kids.
It's most age appropriate for kids ages 17 and up, provided that they have some background in the subject matter. I would definitely recommend this movie being viewed in conjunction with a U.S History class that covers this topic!
