Review of Argo (2012) by Brandon W — 05 Jun 2015
I believe that out of all the movies that Ben Affleck has directed, Argo is his magnum opus, and I'm glad to see that it made a lot of money. When my best friend saw this, she actually thought that it's a masterpiece which I'm happy to know that we both got the same opinion, and it's rare for her to say that.
The story is amazing, and it has a lot of tense moments that you really start to wonder about whether or not they can make it. The direction is terrific, and the writing by Chris Terrio is really great with memorable lines and some darkly humorous moments.
Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, and many others bring their A game here and made this movie work. With John Goodman and Alan Arkin's characters together, they are hilarious and are one of the most enjoyable part of the movie.
The score by Alexander Desplat is really catchy, and the characters are quite memorable. The pacing is well done and with the first 10 minutes of the film, you know what to expect the film to be in terms of its own energy.
Argo is an excellent film that makes some surprise that Ben Affleck is turning to one of the best directors out there in Hollywood.
