Review of Archipelago (2011) by Hannah D — 01 Nov 2013
I was determined to stick with this even though for the first 30 minutes or so it was so slow and boring! I'd seen that it had garnered some very positive reviews, so kept telling myself I'd become more interested.
And even though nothing overly dramatic actually happened, it became strangely compelling . It was very atmospheric, being set in the Scilly Isles, and there was a tension amongst the family members. I was particularly interested in why the mother was so miserable a lot of the time.
Many people may have made the mistake of switching it off in the early stages, thinking it was going to be boring. I promise you, it is a VERY good film!
