Renting this movie I wasn't quite sure what I was in for, I usually have pretty lukewarm feeling towards Richard Gere I generally tend to think he overacts and he usually plays the creepy white guy role.

And while in Arbitrage he still plays a bit of a creepy white guy - he does so in an entertaining way. Arbitrage also plays on the public perception that men in big business are frauds in all aspects of their lives - that of course is appealing because we generally consider that to be true.

In any case Arbitrage tells the story of a 60 year old man trying to sell his company (for a ridiculous sum of money) under false pretences. At the same time his mistress dies suspiciously and he must deal with this fall out.

The movie is entertaining and even on some points is thought provoking. Much better than expected.
