Review of Arbitrage (2012) by Matt D — 08 Feb 2013
I enjoyed 'Arbitrage' a lot more than I thought I was going to. It has that intense sense of guilt boiling through it like some of Hitchcock's greatest films where you find yourself rooting for an awful guy to get away with his heinous deeds. Gere is fantastic in the role and surrounded by a great little supporting cast working with a taught screenplay.
If the film has a failing though it must surely be on the technical front. The picture has a very flat look and occasionally awkward cuts that make it feel amateurish at times. I feel a more seasoned director probably could have knocked this out to another level of greatness.
