Review of Arachnophobia (1990) by Dustin S — 20 May 2009
Wonderful in its slow build up, something you mostly find in films that are pre-2000. Just like Aliens and so many other "big" scary movie hits of the previous millennium the atmosphere of the film is in its build-up, and not in an action extravaganza with monsters jumping this way and that while explosions go off in the back ground and robots fly across your head before the opening credits.
No this is the best part(s) Indiana Jones and Jaws (Spielberg is the producer. Coincidence?) in one film. I found this to be fun, well written, exciting, and scary (but I am also highly phobic of spiders so that could be why).
And John Goodman is bad-ass in this pre-Lebowski-role. Beautiful!
