Review of Arachnophobia (1990) by Lanice M — 10 Jul 2010
Definitely entertaining. For the most part, the movie is the right mix of anticipation and lighter tones. The concept is fairly typical of an animal horror story. The last 10-15 minutes though seem like they decided to venture fully into the comedy genre, and every earlier attempt to be appropriately serious and convincing just goes down the drain.
It's not terribly bad, it really is kinda funny, like a Raimi movie. Maybe I didn't get that it was supposed to become funnier by the minute. However, nice movie. One thing though: if you suffer from arachnophobia, you would never ever touch something you thought was a spider but then realized MIGHT be something else.
You would touch it only after you turned on the lights and made 200% sure that it really isn't a spider. Totally unbelievable scene.
