Review of Aquaman (2018) by Kieran R — 16 Jan 2019
This film was full of everything expected for a superhero film, combining comedy, CGI and action all into a two hour runtime. Jason Momoa could not be a cooler Aquaman and he fits the character in ways that everybody could not expect and this film just showed how he could play the role as he didnâ(TM)t have enough time to showcase his skills as the character in Justice League.
Aquaman kicked ass in its genre, keeping its characters strong and memorable. Mera was a superhero in her own right so going into this, expect two strong and powerful superheroes. James Wan, as a director, tried so hard to save DCâ(TM)s recent reputation and he definitely delivered as this is superhero gold. I love Marvelâ(TM)s Captain America The First Avenger for the same reasons as why I love this film because both films create a clear and lengthy introduction to the character with his origin being both exciting and interesting. Nicole Kidman was very action-packed and intense throughout these scenes so it was wonderful to truly appreciate her and everybody in the cast for the magnificent jobs they did to bring Aquaman to the big screen in the most astounding way possible.
The story was pretty average but for a film with so much to admire, it was hard to find something bad about it. The trailers and the posters give away the ending of the film which made the film very predictable but it was nothing to fault. Despite other films in the superhero genre, Aquaman held strong, not taking away any of the excitement of the best choreographed fight scenes Iâ(TM)ve ever seen and the visually stunning CGI that is comparable to the CGI used for Thanos in Avengers Infinity War. These attributes made Aquaman a significant film and welcome addition to the DCEU. It was quite astonishing to see this film and find very little that was at fault with it, much like The Dark Knight and Captain America Civil War. Aquaman is a film that I am going to enjoy for a long time.
Aquaman was an absolutely awesome film with a fun cast and mind bending CGI illusions comparable to the likes of Doctor Strange. It was so nice to sit and smile throughout the whole 144 minute runtime and not feel distracted or bored. With very little to fault, unlike many other of DCâ(TM)s recent films, Aquaman is a big surprise that packs a big punch with perfectly choreographed action sequences, an incredible cast along with an inspirational director. Aquaman is nothing short of perfect and proves to be a brilliant superhero film.
