This was easily the best male led DCEU we have been given. Momoa is funny and charming, which I think is how he is in real life (I saw him at a local brewery earlier this year and he was super chill and friendly.) This role is perfect for him. I think he is the male hero DC needed to resurrect whatever it is they have been trying to do these past few years. I enjoyed it, though there were some "what the..." moments for sure.
I think the Manta character was probably the worst villain on the big screen in a long time. His whole arc was super predictable (I have never read an Aquaman comic in my life) and just boring.
Patrick Wilson's hair had me LOLing, what was that French twist?!
Not sure what the casting team was thinking when they cast Amber Heard - there is zero chemistry between Momoa and her. I hope that he gets another love interest, because it was more like a brother sister dynamic...so when they kissed it was pretty cringey.
Overall, this was a fun movie and I would say for sure see it. It is no Marvel movie, but really at this point how can DC ever catch up to those or even compare. Take the DCEU movies for what they are - an entertaining romp, and you can't go wrong. I look forward to more Aquaman and hopefully a new love interest for him. I am available, FYI ;).
