Review of Apt Pupil (1998) by Laura A — 20 Jul 2010
This movie was actually a bit disappointing. It just moves way to slow and there's a lot of build-up, but not much of a reward. There's a few great scenes and Ian McKellen is great and although I'm not a big Brad Renfro fan, he's pretty good as well.
I've never actually read the short story, but I'm sure it was better like that than in movie form. It's always pretty difficult to make short stories into movies anyway although with Stephen King short stories, they seem to make the best movies.
But either way, it's a decent movie, but I don't think it lives up to it's potential and it could be better. On another note... what in the hell is up with David Schwimmer's mustache? It's hard enough to take him seriously, but with that stupid friggin' mustache it's just impossible.
