Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Marcus W — 17 Jun 2009

I don't hate this film, that's not it, I was just so very underwhelmed by it's mediocrity and general dullness - especially given the talent involved. Harris is a great actor but on the strength of this film he's not a good director.

Here he plays a grizzled old sharp-shooter - the kind of role he can play in his sleep. Mortensen is his sidekick, Irons, the bad guy, and then there's Zellweger who is a complete mess and half the time seems to think she's in another film, in the other half she's trying to change the character as she goes along from woman on train to wife to hostage to whore.

Massively disappointing.
