Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Joe F — 30 Aug 2009

I'm a big fan of westerns, and this was definitely a good recent take on the forgotten genre. Ed Harris' fingerprints are all over the film (he stars, directed, produced, and even sang a song) and Mortensen was his typical engaging self.

The film's downside, like most westerns, was that Zellweger's character partially ruined the movie, although her role was central to the plot. She didn't do a bad job, just that her character wasn't as interesting as the people in the movie thought it was.

And Jeremy Irons could've been a great bad guy, but he doesn't get enough screen time or lines and dialogue to work with.
