Review of Apollo 13 (1995) by Vitor A — 08 Sep 2012
"Houston, we've got a problem." This was how Jim Lovell, commander on the mission Apollo 13, communicated the incident that took place on board an American space ship, and which put at risk the lives of it's three astronauts, whose final destination was the moon.
Ron Howard follows step by step the turn of events that took place in 1970, and he's got a hell of a fine cast to help him tell the story. Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon made "Apollo 13" become one of the highest-grossing "based on true events" films ever, plus 2 Oscars and 26 other award nominations.
Top of the art special effects and a solid script provide skin and bone, to a movie whose only negative aspects are some of it's dramatic excesses.
